Greetings, all! Alas, my gallery is still not functioning properly, which is why you haven’t seen new artwork in recent months. However, if you would like to see what I’ve been up to, I am temporarily using MySpace as a gallery. Visit the site and join my network to see all the new goodies:

www.myspace.com/DrawJinDraw

I have recently been named colorist for the monthly comic book, Spawn. Created by Todd McFarlane, and now drawn by Whilce Portacio, we are taking the book into a brand new direction, so stop on by your local comic shop to check it out! My contribution to the book began with Spawn issue #185, and it was completely sold out shortly after it hit the shelves. The second printing is now available, along with issue #186, which hit stores last week, so we’re merrily along our way!

I will be posting new artwork in the “News” section of this website, so once I figure out what the best presentation will be, you will be seeing new work in the coming months. But, again, for now, just check out MySpace at the following URL:

www.myspace.com/DrawJinDraw

I recently took a trip to China with Todd to inspect our factories. I have a few pictures to post from that trip, so check back in a few weeks for those.

I’m a little short on time right now, so I’ll have to end this here. I’ll have all those photos, new art, and other announcements for you in my next post, which, I PROMISE, will be coming over the Thanksgiving holiday!

Gobble, gobble, everyone!

First off, my gallery has been down for quite some time, which is why you haven’t seen new artwork in recent months. If you’d like to see some new artwork, I am temporarily using MySpace as my gallery. Visit the site and join my network to see all the new goodies:

Next; since August of 2007, I have taken on the role of Lead Concept Artist for Todd McFarlane Productions, a.k.a. McFarlane Toys. Working closely with Todd and staff, we will continue to roll out new and innovative products in the coming years. Keep a close eye out, and visit www.Spawn.com for all the new updates!!!

FINALLY, the last bit of news I have is in regards to the 2008 Phoenix Cactus ComiCon. www.phoenixcomicon.com
On Saturday, January 26th, from 2:00-3:00pm, I will be representing McFarlane Toys by hosting a panel discussion in the Apache Room in the Mesa Convention Center.

One of the topics covered will be the process of making a McFarlane Toys action figure, from concept-to-final production. We will also be holding a raffle to give away original sketches, and concept art work that I have done over the years, but you must attend the panel in order to receive a raffle ticket!

After the panel, the raffle for the original artwork will be held at the McFarlane Toys booth, #84, and I will also be signing.

So, if you’re in the Phoenix area, or plan on attending from out-of-state, be sure to drop by the Mesa Convention Center, Apache Room, Saturday January 26th @ 2:00pm. Then, drop by the McFarlane Toys booth #84, at 3:00pm, for the raffle and signing.

That’s all for now!

I have some great news for everyone visiting today!

Marvel Comics, in association with Orson Scott Card and Dabel Brothers Productions, recently announced a brand-new story based on the Ender’s Game universe, written by Orson Scott Card. They have been kind enough to ask me to provide the pencils for the book, and I was honored to accept this exciting new project.

The new story, titled The Gold Bug, will take place shortly after the events in Ender’s Game, and will tell the tale of two characters who are new to the Ender’s Game universe.

I am very excited to be working with Mr. Card again, and look forward to this opportunity to team up with industry-leading publishers such as Marvel Comics and Dabel Brothers Productions.

As always, The IGMS delivers exciting short-stories, reliable movie/tv reviews, insightful columns, and much, much more for the cost of admission. This is not just a hard-sell I’m trying to make either. If you’re a fan of Orson Scott Card’s work, or just great storytelling in general, it really is worth checking out.

In every new issue, Mr. Card also writes a new story, based on a character from the Ender’s Game Universe. That alone is worth the money you pay for admission; which is actually less than what you would pay for a latte at Starbucks. I urge those of you who haven’t checked it out, to go and see for yourself.

Finally, I would like to address the Home Page Sketch giveaway. For all those who participated, I’d like to thank you for your patience! I know it took me an eternity to get those sketches sent out to you, and some of you waited even longer than that! I also said I would have your sketches on a radomizer as images on the header of my home page, but as you can see, they’re not up yet. Please be patient, as I am slowly reformatting my website and adding some new features, so I am holding off on the header images for now.

Thanks again for continuing to visit, everyone!

This week I’ve updated my Pro Gallery with some of the concept work I did for McFarlane Toys, Spawn Series 31. Click HERE to visit the Spawn.com website for full details on this long-awaited line of Spawn toys.

I was asked to come up with a new pose for the character, Necrocop, who made his first appearance in the comic book, Spawn: Simony. This time around, since we already had the design of the character, created by Aleksi Briclot, all that was left was to use the provided assets and come up with a new pose. Click HERE for Aleksi’s website.

The next bit of work I provided for Series 31 was a little less glamorous. The back-view for Lord Covenant was used to help the sculptor, Mr. Brian Fay, get a better idea of what his back would look like without his cape. Great work on the sculpt, Killa-B! And of course, the original design for Lord Covenant, who made his first appearance in the pages of Spawn: The Dark Ages, was originally drawn by Liam Sharp. Click HERE for a link to Liam’s website.

That’s all this month!

I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2007!

*** SERVER ISSUES ***
My server looks like it’s been having some problems as of late. The gallery is working, but the Links, News, and Contact pages are down. If you would like to contact me for any information that is on those pages, you can email me at jin@drawjindraw.com
*********************************************

New work in the Character and Miscellaneous galleries.

And here’s a sneal peek at a few images that were released on the Spawn.com website. All I’ll say is that they’re from a future line from McFarlane Toys. Ponder that.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Gallery updates abound!

McFarlane Toys has released production photography for Dragons 5: Fall Of The Dragons Kingdom. And, as usual, the concept artwork that went into this line is now in my gallery. Also updated are the concept sketches for Dragons: Series 4.

Sometimes the final product will change from the original design, and sometimes stay true to the original idea. It is a constantly evolving process, and the sculptors in the Design Center always turn out some amazing work! To see how the Dragons start out, click HERE for the concept sketches. Below are some previews of the concept art.

Recently, I delivered some concepts for McFarlane Toys: Dragons Series 6. To refresh the Dragons line and keep it as fresh as possible, they’ve created brand-new clans for this series and it’s sure to impress. The McFarlane Dragons aren’t going anywhere, so dragons fans rejoice!

I also continue to work with McFarlane Toys on existing lines, in addition to new lines that are still in the development stages. Keep visiting my site for updates as they become available!

Next up, Orson Scott Card’s Intergalactic Medicine Show. Click on that link and purchase the newest issue of the online magazine. The ‘zine continues to get better with every issue, and is always packed with great stories and artwork that are well worth the $2.50 cover price.

I’ve been working closely with Mr. Card in producing the artwork for various stories in the magazine, and now I can release the images from Issue #1 here on my website. They are also in my Pro Work gallery, so head on over there to check them out. Here are some previews:

Also in Issue #1 of the IGMS, is the comic book Fat Farm, written by Orson Scott Card, adapted by Aaron Johnston, and illustrated by yours truly. Click HERE to purchase Issue #1, scroll towards the bottom of the page, and check it out!

It was my first swing at sequential artwork, so there are flaws and many things that I would do differently, but it was a great learning experience! I’m still considering how to present them in my gallery, so as soon as I figure that out, I’ll update the news. For now, here are a few thumbs of selected pages from the book:

And finally, the new issue of Orson Scott Card’s online magazine, The Intergalactic Medicine Show #3, has been released. I was commissioned for two illustrations in the new issue:

Cheater, the story of Han Tzu from Ender’s Game, written by Orson Scott Card
Fat Town, written by Jose Mojica

You can view the illustrations and purchase the new issue by clicking HERE. Below are previews of the images.

Enjoy!

I’d like to thank all of you who have written in for the Home Page Sketch Giveaway. As you may have noticed, I haven’t held up my end of the bargain and posted the new drawings, but it’s all with good reason. I’m in the middle of moving my home and studio, while also working with my clients, so I haven’t had a chance to do very much in my free time.

HOWEVER, I will be settled into my new place early next week. And once that happens, I’ll be furiously pumping out your sketches and will have them ready by the end of the week! So please just bear with me for a little while longer. I’ve finished answering all your questions, and I’ve got to say that some of you have WAY too much time on your hands! I’m not sure I which ones I CAN post on the site, simply for the sake of decency, but I’ll do my best to post the gist of what you were trying to ask.

So until then, ponder this:

Why would a grown man confuse a trilobite with a terabyte?
